Cadel Evans creates history in the tour de france

What a hero! Cadel Evans has created history by becoming the first Australian to finish on the podium at the legendary Tour de France. In one of the closest finishes in the Tour’s history, Evans finished 2nd overall, only 23 seconds behind Spain’s Alberto Contador. American Levi Leipheimer was 3rd only a further 8 seconds back.

Cadel Evans was certainly the crowd favourite carrying his squeaky clean image through the entire race when so many others were tarnished by the dark spectre of drug taking that has haunted this years’ Tour and the sport of cycling as a whole. It is a shame that achievements like those of Cadel Evans are tarnished by the cheats within the sport.
