The day commences at 8.30am with a light breakfast while you meet the other drivers. This is followed by a short but informative lecture on vehicle dynamics and driving principles. Classic Car Cobra Hire For A Day

What do you get if you cross a mild mannered 60s British sports car with the out-and-out power of an American muscle car motor? A mad, legendary super car! Developed by Carroll Shelby in 1962, the Cobra is a child of the inspiration to place Ford's new Windsor engine into the AC Ace of the ailing AC motor company in the UK. The Cobra is famous as a race car and notorious as a road car and has been lusted after by generations ever since. Our Cobra is a 1998 DAX. It is light blue with white stripes (of course!) and has a minimalist aluminium interior. We like this lightweight race car authenticity. It also has an automatic transmission mated to the 302 engine. When you arrive to pick up the Cobra, we will present you with your car document pack. This pack includes a history of the Cobra, some suggested routes to drive during your day, as well as the more formal documents that we'll need to complete with you. You'll then spend some time with us going over a few of the individual features the car has. We want to make sure you are comfortable driving it before you head off. Then the car is all yours for 24 hours! Feel free to call us with any questions or issues as you drive the Cobra around Brisbane and its surrounds. You then return the vehicle to the pick-up point at the same time the next day.

Aussies Love Hotted Up Cars

Australian's have always had a fascination with sport. When you combine this love with another favourite passion of ours, hotted up cars, it is no surprise that the popularity of the V8 Supercars is unprecedented in Australia.

After World War II, the racing of cars occurred all across Australia. There were old airfields turned into tracks and many mountain climbing events popped up in 1950s.

The Australian Touring Car Championships were in full swing by 1960 and provided a national competition for rev heads to follow and participate in.

The Australian Touring Car Championships bred one of Australia's biggest sporting cultures and one question still divides the nation today; Are you a Ford or Holden fan?

The Touring Car Championships developed into a national sport and was the basis for what is the V8 Supercars series as we know it today.

Figures from Australian Bureau of Statistics 2005-2006 survey found that motor sport was in the top four of all sports that people over the age of 15 years attended. Australian Rules Football accounted for 16% of the nation, with horse racing at 12% and both Rugby League and motor sport at 9%.

Did You Know This About V8's?

Ian Geoghegan, Mark Skaife and Dick Johnson have all won 5 series championships. However, Geoghegan won four of them consecutively in 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969.

At 21 years, 11 months and 11 days, Craig Lowndes was the youngest driver to secure a series win. He did this in 1996 in Round 9 at Mallala.

Robbie Francevic was the oldest driver to win a V8 championship series at the age of 44 years, 8 months and five days.

Ford has won the series 21 times and Holden only 13 times. However, Holden has won 163 races compared to Ford's 126.
