The whistle blows and you run, heart pounding, adrenalin pumping through your veins, you dive for cover as you hear the enemy fire! Rolling over you return fire and call to your team mates that contact has been made. Your target is somewhere up ahead, you muster your forces and work your way forward. You take out your enemies one at a time, they are in full retreat. Your objective is so close now, sweating, heart barely in your chest. One final effort and the prize is yours, UP,UP on your feet running forward! What? What?s happening? I?m hit. This is a truly exciting, action packed experience. Come and see how good you are in the real world! Laser Skirmish - 2.5 HoursLaser Skirmish is a new sport using the latest technology. Because the units don?t have a projectile they are not firearms. Since there is no paint there is no mess. The guns shoot further, are more accurate and are not affected by wind. Plus there are no legal restrictions on this game. Once you suit up, whether in our hired camouflage gear, or your own gear, you'll be kitted out with a camouflage baseball cap fitted with a sensor, camo face paint and a two-way radio. (Face paint and radios are optional with the corporate or bucks party pack, can be hired for $5). A safety briefing and basic explanation of the rules are given, teams chosen and weapons selected. There are various types of gun to choose from including the Morita, which is based on the design of the gun in Starship Troopers and the Pulse rifle that resembles the gun in Alien 2. The guns shoot an invisible and harmless infrared beam, which has a range of up to 150 metres. The sensor attached to your hat monitors the number of times you are hit during the game. Your aim when shooting is to hit the opponent?s 20 cm sensor area. But BEWARE referees monitor games to stop cheats from hiding their sensor. Each time you are hit your gun lets you know by giving off a grunt and displaying the word 'ouch' on its screen. This means you have lost a life and you put up your hand to acknowledge it to the other team. When you have run out of ammo you run to the bunker to re-charge and get back out on the field trying to avoid losing all of your lives. If you do, your gun will scream and the words ?Dead? will appear on the screen to let you know that you are well and truly out of the game! Laser Skirmish 24-Hour Boot Camp For 10Scrambling around on your chest with glow sticks as your only clue, enemy soldiers everywhere. The squad works relentlessly. ?Man down!? pierces through the dark. The only thing to do is play hard and have an awesome night. On the first day of the laser skirmish boot camp we pick you up in our 20-seater bus from a prearranged location within the Perth metro area. We then drive to the camp and laser skirmish site, about a 90 minute drive from the city. Upon arrival we set up camp, divide the group into two squads and you will be given a 30 minute briefing. Each participant is given a laser tagger (gun) and the training begins! After training we will regroup for dinner. Eat up because after dinner you?re in for hours of laser skirmish fun! As darkness falls we take your squads into the bush to play out a number of different scenarios. Each player will have the option of playing with a sniper or an assault tagger. The tagger hits accurately from 200m in broad daylight and up to 600m in the dark! The equipment uses infrared light to emit a coded signal. This signal is picked up by sensors worn on your head which flash to indicate a hit. The benefit of laser skirmish is that there are no bruises! Some of our favourite scenarios include: * Speed Course ? dominate the field and deactivate the opposing team * VIP Escort ? escort one player safely from A to B * Last Man Standing ? just aim to survive After playing we return to the lodge to chill out, have a well-earned drink, eat supper and debrief. The it?s lights out! Get lots of rest because the fun starts again the next day. In the morning you?ll be taken through 30 minutes of personal training ? to get your adrenalin going ? and return for breakfast. Once everyone is fed it?s back to the battle field for one last skirmish before lunch. After lunch we pack up and drop you off in the city again. Laser Skirmish Armageddon Mission for TenGrab nine of your friends - or enemies - for an all day laser skirmish mission to end them all. This is Armaggedon! Laser skirmish is the utimate adventure game with fun and exciting military simulations and combat mission-like scenarios. Just like paintball - but without the bruises or the mess. Laser Skirmish CombatA beginners session will have the following missions (see below). Or, if you are organising a private group booking we can design missions to suit you. For example we have done a sci-fi theme, and a WWII day. Just ask us and we can make it happen for you. * Death Match - Eliminate the other team. In this mission each team gets unlimited replacements/re-spawns . Replacements are taken from your base and everyone gets 8 hit points (hits they can take before they must go back and get a replacement). The mission is over after 25-30 minutes, the team that has taken the least replacements wins. This mission is great warm-up because every player, plays the whole mission and its very forgiving of mistakes. * Base Assault - This mission is played twice because one team is the attacker and one team is the defender, so we want each team to try both positions. This mission is to have the nearest survivor to the flag after 25-30 minutes. The attackers will generally get more replacements, than the defenders. Each team will have between 5 and 8 hit points. Usually the defenders also get 1 or more claymore mines! The price includes the latest technology Laser Skirmish weapons (50-150 metres range, configurable to semi-automatic, fully-automatic), professional referees, full camouflage outfit and ammunition - minimum 270 rounds per mission. Each session runs multiple missions. Most sessions will consist of approximately 3 missions. If missions end quickly, that is, the battle objective is reached early (eg. capture base & overthrow opposing team quickly etc) another mission will be conducted. History of Paintball
Paintball is a sport where teams try and capture the flag of the other team without being shot by a ball of paint. The sport is usually played in wilderness areas or purpose designed complexes and teams are dressed in military style camouflage clothing.
The sport has a massive following around the world. It is estimated that over 10 million people participate in paintball in the United States annually and in over 40 countries. The sport also has a huge following in Australia.
Guns that shoot paint were used in the 1940s and 1950s by companies and farmers to assist in marking trees as well as cattle in rugged terrain.
It wasn't until a group of 12 men used these guns in a modified game of capture the flag, that the sport and use of the paintball was realised.
The first official game of paintball occurred in 1980. There are many variations to paintball. The objectives can be to shoot the opposition in the aim to capturing their flag, shooting a nominated person, speed shooting and targeting people dressed in costumes.
Since this time, guns and balls have been designed specifically for the sport. There were obvious safety concerns initially but these were overcome with a whole range of equipment that protects the head, face, eyes and genitals.
The thrill of being in combat situations, wearing camouflage clothing and firing on an enemy without the chance of being seriously injured is the reason for the popularity of the sport.
Today, there are thousands of purpose built facilities for paintball. There are professional associations and competitions. Many people use paintball as an opportunity to play recreationally with friends or work colleagues. © MAS 2007
Is Paintball Safe??
There are obvious safety concerns with any sport that involves shooting projectiles at other people. However, paintball is controlled by very strict rules to ensure the safety of participants is paramount.
Firstly, the safety equipment needs to be worn before any competition commences. The equipment includes face masks, eye protection and specifically designed protection for the genitals.
There are also rules during a game that every player must respect. One of these is the surrender rule. When a player is shot and is no longer eligible to continue in the match, they can stand and raise their arms above their head. This indicates they are out and cannot be shot again.
Many reports have shown that injuries in paintball are fewer than more traditional sports like tennis.
The strict safety requirements and rules ensure paintball is one of the safest sports in the world. © MAS 2007
